ISO 20000-1:2011 is a standard that specifies the requirements for setting up and managing an effective Information Technology Service Management System (SMS). The requirements include the design, transition, delivery, and improvement of services to fulfill agreed service requirements. Its aim is to provide a common reference standard for any enterprise offering IT services to internal or external customers. Emphasis is given on the importance of process integration. It means that cooperation and communication between interested parties is an essential condition for an effective SMS.
This standard can be applied to any service provider regardless of its size and activity that wishes to demonstrate its effectiveness in IT SMS to its clients, partners, suppliers or shareholders.

CERTIFICATION PROCESS:
Provided that the Certification Audit of the organization’s Information Technology Service Management System is successful, the Certificate is issued shortly. The ISO 20000-1:2018 certificate is valid for three years during which time two annual surveillance audits must take place.
