EUROCERT at the 1st Workshop organized by Social Accountability International in Athens for the SA8000 Standard
EUROCERT, a leading certification body in social compliance audits, and the only Greek certification body accredited by SAAS (Social Accountability Accreditation Services) for certification according to the SA8000 Standard, participated in the Workshop held for the first time in Athens by Social Accountability International (SAI). This event was organized in anticipation of the forthcoming new version of the SA8000 Standard.
The SA 8000 Standard is an international standard that falls within the broader field of Corporate Social Responsibility. Specifically designed by the Social Accountability International Organization (SAI), its purpose is to establish specific criteria and specifications for socially acceptable working conditions. It has global applicability and recognition. The standard focuses on upholding labor rights and ensuring fair and safe working conditions. It is also designed to incorporate international agreements, such as those of the International Labour Organization (ILO), the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Representatives from institutional bodies, interested parties, certified companies, consulting firms, and certification bodies participated in the workshop. SAI representatives presented the main changes to the Standard, followed by discussions with those present regarding the implementation of its requirements in the Greek market. The new version is expected to be finalized by 2024.
